Universal Design, Accessibility and Reasonable Accommodation

Narek Minassian and Suren Maghakyan taught a one-week course for 150 architecture students at the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, covering the philosophy, basics and international experience of universal design, accessibility, reasonable accommodation and disability art.

Drawing on a decade of research, the course explored human-centered design, best practices and the daily challenges faced by different groups, particularly persons with disabilities. Students asked for the subject to be included in their curriculum. The course later became the foundation for the training manual.
